Why EDGE, Why Now:
-
Player development is often evaluated through observation, making it difficult to measure progress consistently across coaches, teams, and seasons.
-
There’s no standardized method — or consistent age-level benchmarks — to measure technical ability and track growth with objective data.
-
EDGE provides measurable, repeatable assessments that give players, parents, coaches, and clubs clear, data-driven insight into technical development and growth.
CLARITY - TRUST - GROWTH
Clarity in Decisions: EDGE provides objective, data-backed assessments that supplement coach evaluations, making placement decisions transparent.
Trust with Parents: Parents and Players want to know evaluations are fair. EDGE is an objective tool to compliment highly qualified coaching staff and provides parents and players with clear metrics and benchmark comparisons (e.g., first touch, passing accuracy, speed of play) giving them confidence in the process.
Player Growth: Athletes can see their own numbers and track progress over time. Instead of wondering “why did I make this team?” or “what do I work on to improve?”, Players have performance data that shows their growth and development path.
EDGE also provides coaches with the information they need for data-backed training as players work towards new goals and benchmarks.
HOW edge works:
-
The Edge Team runs players through a standardized assessment created through research and development to assess core technical skills. Players complete nine core drills (A–I): ball control reps, first-touch, shooting, timed sprints, and more. Results are captured in controlled settings, repeatable time and time again to demonstrate true growth.
-
EDGE converts raw results into fair, apples-to-apples metrics. Scores are normalized by age cohort, then rolled into three categories—Control, Accuracy, Speed—and a single EDGE Score.
-
Coaches, parents and players get clear strengths, gaps, and age-based benchmarks—and suggested drills to improve gaps. Progress is tracked over time, so every retest shows real improvement.
Bottom line: standardize the test, trust the numbers, and turn data into development.
